Viral Tweet Incites Vaccine Protests

On September 15, protesters gathered outside of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) in Atlanta to express their hesitancies about the COVID-19 vaccines. Stocked with signs and megaphones, they made their opinions known.

What inspired them to go out and protest? A viral tweet from Nicki Minaj, a rapper who posted several tweets that attracted attention just two days before the protests.

After fans noticed that she wasn’t at the 2021 Met Gala, at 5:21 p.m., the musician tweeted “They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t [be] for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head and face. Not that loose one.”

30 minutes later, she then uploaded another tweet that would gain more traction than the first.

“My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it and became impotent,” Minaj said. “His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it and make sure you’re comfortable with your decision, not bullied.”

Inspired by Minaj sharing her opinion on why she hasn’t yet been vaccinated and the backlash she received online for doing so, the Black Hammer Organization decided to go out and share their opinions as well in support of the rapper and the freedom of choice.

In a September 18 article posted by Black Hammer, they stated “we understand that Nicki is just like so many African and Colonized women who do not trust the jab for the countless instances their ancestors’ bodies have been violated and exploited.”

The Secretary General of Black Hammer thinks that America is in a worse position regarding the pandemic than before the vaccines were out.

“At the end of the day, it’s my body, so why don’t I get to ask those questions?” the Secretary General said. “So now, the CDC and the United States government is forcing us to take these vaccines and if we don’t, we get unemployed. These same vaccines have caused so many side-effects. These same vaccines that supposedly hundreds of millions of Americans have, but have done nothing to slow down the pandemic.”

In an interview with CNN, Dr. Fauci, a top disease specialist, said that there was no correlation between the COVID-19 vaccine and reproductive problems.

“There’s no evidence that it happens, nor is there any mechanistic reason to imagine that it would happen,” Fauci said.

Over the last 30 days, there have been 42,031,103 COVID-19 cases. There have been 672,738 deaths within the same time frame. So far, America has administered 386,237,881 vaccines.

“After experiencing a brief decline in COVID-19 cases, the United States is once again seeing an increase in cases in most of the country,” stated the CDC’s weekly COVID-19 tracker webpage. “This recent increase follows a previous summer surge that was fueled by the highly contagious Delta variant and low vaccination coverage in many communities.”

According to the CDC, the coronavirus constantly mutates, creating new variants and vaccines that are the best way to fight the pandemic.

“COVID-19 vaccines offer strong protection against serious illness and death,” stated the CDC. “High vaccination coverage is proven to reduce the spread of the virus. The less a virus spreads, the less opportunity there is for new variants to emerge”
