The 2021 Music Midtown festival returned to Piedmont Park this past weekend following a year off due to the pandemic forcing the 2020 event to be canceled.

Even the rainy and humid weather didn’t stop thousands from showing up to hear their favorite musicians perform. Attendees gathered in the park dressed in their best festival attire, ranging from fringe and glitter to dressing as “Blue” from Blue’s Clues.

Music Midtown is normally a large event but was held with updated safety policies to protect participants in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The safety of our patrons and our staff is our number one priority,” the festival released on Instagram. “As such, a full COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results will be required to attend Music Midtown 2021.”

Earlier this month, Music Midtown partnered with the City of Atlanta to offer free tickets to the festival for music fans who got vaccinated.

There was very little social distancing or mask-wearing by attendees of Music Midtown 2021. They instead reverted back to the pre-pandemic festival tradition of packing together body to body to get as close to the stage as possible.

Musicians performed across four different stages for the two-day festival to see artists such as Maroon 5, Miley Cyrus and Megan Thee Stallion.
